One Direction fans are in mourning this week after hearing the tragic news that Liam Payne died after falling from a third-floor hotel room balcony in Buenos Aires.
The 31-year-old British pop singer reportedly extended his five-day trip to Buenos Aires, which was only supposed to be five days, and his girlfriend left and returned to Miami. Payne ended up staying for two weeks.
Local cops say they received a 911 call from the same hotel “reporting an aggressive man who could be under the influence of drugs or alcohol,” according to a statement from El Sistema de Atención Médica de Emergencias (SAME).
Payne became a global superstar when he was chosen to be a member of boy band One Direction, that was created on British talent show, X Factor in 2010. Other group members included Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Zayn Malik. The band is one of the best-selling boy bands of all time and have sold more than 70 million records worldwide to date.
In 2016, the group took an “indefinite hiatus.”
