Nollywood actor, Ik Ogbonna, has opened up on issues affecting many modern marriages.
In a message posted on his Instagram story, Ogbonna pointed out that the struggle for identity and control in relationships are often overlooked.
Naijaonpoint reports that according to him, these issues do not usually start with open conflict, instead, they often grow from a place of genuine admiration.
He explained that a man may be drawn to a woman’s strength, while she may be attracted to his confidence, however, as time goes on, things begin to shift in ways many couples do not expect.
He wrote: “One of the most untalked about issues in modern marriages especially among African men and powerful women is the silent battle for identity and control. It doesn’t always start as conflict. In fact, it often begins with admiration. He is drawn to her strength. She is attracted to his confidence. But somewhere along the line… Unconsciously… Ego meets ego.
Pride meets independence. Culture meets ambition.”

In a post shared on his Instagram, the artiste hinted at the painful reality of doing so much for people who fail to appreciate the effort.
He explained that those who once benefited from someone’s kindness can easily turn against them the moment the support stops.
He wrote: “Sometimes in life ehh! the people wey you de suffer for and carry cross for no go send you … until you stop giving them.. Then you will become the bad person.”
