The Lagos State Police Command has arrested and detained social media influencer Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, over reckless driving.

Kemi Filani reported on December 14, 2025, that the popular TikToker had been involved in a car accident following a breakup with his longtime girlfriend, Jarvis. The TikToker purposely crashed his Mercedes-Benz while live-streaming on Instagram, which left him hospitalised.

Following this, the Police Command, in a statement issued on Tuesday, December 16, by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said the influencer’s conduct posed a serious threat to public safety and required immediate intervention.

The police described his act as extremely dangerous, warning that it could have resulted in fatal consequences for both the suspect and other road users.

The command disclosed that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a thorough investigation.

The Commissioner of Police for Lagos State Command issued a strong warning to social media influencers and the general public, urging them to refrain from using online platforms to promote unlawful behaviour.

While some netizens clamoured for his release, others urged the police to keep him locked up.
