A female has emerged among 23 All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirants vying for the Chairmanship of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) in the Federal Capital Territory.
Jennifer Ozeoma made her declaration at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja after purchasing her Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms, joining 22 male contenders seeking to challenge incumbent Hon. Christopher Zakka Maikalangu in the upcoming February 21, 2026 FCT Area Council elections.
Ozeoma expressed confidence in her ability to lead the area council effectively.
She said, “You people said, ‘What a man can do, a woman can equally do it better,’ and you know, we are good managers. When you give a woman a house, she is going to make it a home. So, I am here to make a home for AMAC.”
Speaking to journalists, Ozeoma assured party members and supporters that she was fully prepared for the journey ahead and remained unfazed by the challenges.
“By the special grace of God, I don’t think there will be any challenge. We have planned. Our people have sent me to study about AMAC. I want to start from where Esther Anazodo stopped because I know and believe that I can do it better,” she said.
While citing the achievements of former AMAC Chairperson Esther Anazodo as a source of inspiration, Ozeoma said she wants to provide transformative leadership for the area council.
As part of her campaign promises, she pledged to prioritise the welfare of women, including the provision of free medical services for pregnant women in AMAC if elected.
