Nigerian center-forward Gift Orban was on target as TSG Hoffenheim put three goals past Werder Bremen to end their 3-game winless run in the German Bundesliga, Footynaija.com reports.

Hoffenheim went into Sunday’s game desperate for a positive result as they sat dangerously close to the bottom-three in 15th place, following a poor run of two defeats and one draw in their last three Bundesliga matches.

The game started in the worst way possible for Orban’s Hoffenheim after Stanley N’Soki put through his own net. But they reacted superbly to the setback with goals from Anton Stach and Tom Bischof to turn the game on its head before half time.

Orban, who was making only his second start in Hoffenheim colours since arriving from Olympique Lyon in the January transfer window, then added a third in the 63rd minute of the match.

The Nigeria international placed a precise header beyond Bremen’s goalkeeper from just inside the six yard box after getting on the end of Andrej Kramaric’s cross.

With his goal at the Westfalenstadion, Orban took his goal tally for Hoffenheim to three in just six appearances. The 22-year-old striker is steadily building his reputation as a reliable option in attack.

However, he was forced to exit the game in the 76th minute after suffering an injury. The former Lyon man was replaced by 23-year-old Turkish striker Erecan Yardimci.

Hoffenheim have 21 points from 22 games, putting a seven-point gap between themselves and the bottom three with the victory of Bremen. Die Kraichgau will now look to build on this momentum as they hope to successfully navigate relegation waters.
