ARISE Television’s anchor, Oseni Rufai, has commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for running away during the protest on Monday by workers of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).

Recall that tension gripped parts of Abuja when a group of aggrieved workers reportedly chased the motorcade of Wike during a protest over unresolved welfare and salary concerns.

The incident occurred as the workers, who had been on strike, gathered to press their demands and became visibly agitated as Wike’s convoy passed through the area.

In a video sighted by Naijaonpoint, the protesters were seen chanting ‘ole’ (which means thief) and moving toward the minister’s vehicles, calling for urgent attention to their grievances.

Speaking during The ARISE News Morning Show on Tuesday, Oseni said that though he might not be a fan of Wike, he commends his action, adding that it was unnecessary to call the Minister a thief.

He said, “I commend Wike for what he did the way he ran away. You see, Wike could have used muscle and might, and while people created barricades there they shoot tear gas and everything, and it becomes a brouhaha when it becomes a brouhaha, its not what we are saying now we’ll be saying.

“It has happened many times in this country. But if he decided, like Lere confirmed, that he would go through the back and just peacefully move away, I commend him for that because this case could have been worse than that.

“And as regards the people that are shouting thief and everything, I mean, it’s protest talk, but I don’t think it’s necessary.”
