All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Adams Oshiomhole, has declared that he has no intention to return as Edo North Senator for the third term.
Naijaonpoint reports that Oshiomhole made this clear while responding to a remark by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during a valedictory session in the Red Chamber on Wednesday in honour of the Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo.
Earlier, Akpabio voiced his concern regarding the potential retirement of Senator Oshiomhole by Okpebholo, should the Edo State Governor decide to return to the Senate.
In response, Oshiomhole refuted Akpabio’s concerns, clarifying that Okpebholo does not belong to his senatorial district.
Prior to his election as Governor of Edo State, Okpebholo served as the representative for the Edo Central Senatorial District.
During the session, Akpabio remarked, “Distinguished Senator Oshiomhole, before you conclude, I was under the impression that he was from your senatorial district?”
In a swift response, Oshiomhole said; “No, sir, he’s from Edo Central.”
The Senate President added: “Okay, otherwise he may retire you when he comes back.”
Oshiomhole responded, “By the time he’s coming back, I might already be retired, because if you add eight years to the current figure, I do not intend to do three terms here.”
Recall that during the September 21 governorship election in Edo State, Okpebholo defeated the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Asue Ighodalo, and Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party to emerge as the winner.
