SUPER Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has been receiving accolades from Galatasaray fans following another goalscoring performance.
The Nigeria international struck in the 73rd minute yesterday to round off the scoring as Galatasaray defeated Caykur Rizespor 3-0 in the Turkish Super Lig.
The goal took Osimhen’s tally to 15 in all competitions this season, and he has now scored in five straight Super Lig matches, netting six times in that run.
Osimhen also became Galatasaray’s fourth-highest foreign goalscorer of all time with that strike.
The former African Player of the Year reached 52 goals for the club, surpassing former striker Bafetimbi Gomis.
The visitors took the lead in the 19th minute through Baris Alper Yilmaz, who finished off a well-worked attacking move.
Despite several attempts from the home side, Caykur Rizespor were unable to find a goal before half-time.
Galatasaray increased their dominance in the second half. Yunus Akgun doubled the advantage in the 62nd minute with a header, before Osimhen added the third to put the match beyond doubt.
With the victory, Galatasaray recorded their 16th win in 21 league matches, moving to 52 points and sitting six points ahead of Fenerbahce, who have a game in hand.
The result extended the club’s unbeaten streak in the league to nine matches, during which Galatasaray have garnered seven wins and two draws, scoring 25 goals and conceding eight.
Galatasaray fans hailed Osimhen across social media platforms after his goal and the key win, as the Super Eagles star took his total contributions in all competitions this season to 15 goals and one assist in 21 appearances.
