Osun Ex-Lawmaker Adedoyin Breaks Silence On Viral Death Threat Video

Former Osun lawmaker and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Wale Adedoyin, popularly known as Eyiyato, has spoken out over the viral video showing him issuing a death threat against Femi Onigbogi during a party meeting in Ilesa.

In the clip, which surfaced online on Sunday, Adedoyin was heard saying in Yoruba, “Tell Femi Onigbogi not to come out; he should stay inside. If he comes out, he will be killed.”

The footage, obtained by SaharaReporters, sparked outrage and highlighted internal cracks within the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress.

Speaking in an interview with SaharaReporters on Monday, Adedoyin confirmed the confrontation but claimed his remarks were made in anger after what he described as a barrage of insults from Onigbogi.

He said, “The confrontation was not premeditated. It was a heated exchange that got out of hand after Barrister Onigbogi directed a series of verbal attacks at me. He insulted me personally and went as far as to insult my family members. As a human being with emotions and dignity, I responded in the heat of the moment.”

Adedoyin also addressed a separate viral audio allegedly featuring Onigbogi’s wife, Mrs. Dupe Dagunduro, in which she hurled curses at him.

In the recording, which spread widely on WhatsApp and Facebook, she said, “Before it gets cold, Wale Adedoyin, I join all the good women, all the bad women, and all the mothers in the world: you will die. A vehicle will kill you… You won’t be successful; you will be dishonoured everywhere you go.”

Social media users condemned the audio as “vile and unbecoming of someone associated with a legal professional.”

Adedoyin insisted the actions of both Onigbogi and his wife provoked his reaction.

“The actions of both Barr. Onigbogi and his wife, particularly the tone and content of their verbal attacks, elicited a strong counter-reaction from me. As a human being with emotions and dignity, I expressed my displeasure and responded accordingly, in defense of my name, reputation, and the integrity of my family,” he said.
