The Osun State Government has released the first batch of candidates selected for employment into public primary and secondary schools across the state.
The development was announced in a statement issued on Friday in Osogbo by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi.
According to the statement, applicants who participated in the recruitment exercise are advised to check the list of successful candidates through approved online platforms or designated government offices.
The government stated that successful applicants could also verify their names at the offices of the Osun State Civil Service Commission, the Osun State Ministry of Education, the Teaching Service Commission and the Osun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) headquarters in Osogbo.
The statement further explained that candidates whose names appeared on the list would begin the process of collecting their appointment letters from March 9, 2026.
The exercise forms part of the state government’s plan to fill vacancies in public schools and strengthen the teaching workforce across the state.
The government also encouraged the newly selected applicants to approach the opportunity with a strong sense of responsibility and professionalism, noting that the recruitment exercise was aimed at improving teaching and learning outcomes in public schools.
Governor Ademola Adeleke also acknowledged the participation of thousands of applicants who took part in the recruitment process and expressed appreciation for their patience throughout the exercise.
Successful candidates were advised to complete the required documentation ahead of the issuance of their appointment letters.
Background to the Teachers Recruitment
The teachers recruitment exercise was initiated by the Osun State Government in 2024 as part of efforts to address shortages of teaching personnel in public schools.
The state government announced plans to recruit thousands of teachers for both primary and secondary schools under the supervision of the Teaching Service Commission and SUBEB.
Applicants were required to submit their applications through an online portal, after which qualified candidates participated in a computer-based test and screening exercise conducted by the relevant education agencies in the state.
However, the recruitment process generated public debate in the state following allegations from some stakeholders and opposition figures who questioned aspects of the process, including transparency in the selection of candidates and the number of applicants to be employed.
Despite the concerns raised in some quarters, the Osun State Government maintained that the recruitment process followed due procedures and was designed to ensure that qualified teachers were engaged to improve the quality of education in public schools across the state
