Osun Lawmaker, Adeyemi Empowers 300 Constituents With Multipurpose Kiosks, Equipment, Grants

Beyond lawmaking, the member of the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Adewumi Adeyemi Irekandu, is making wave and touching lives in his constituency.

Irekandu on Saturday held another series of mega empowerment programme for over 300 artisans, low income earners, traders, market women, as well as persons with disabilities in his constituency.

This is as the Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party in Osun State, Hon. Sunday Bisi, lawmaker representing Ede federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Bamidele Salam, Speaker Adewale Egbedun and other leaders of the PDP and Accord rallied support for Governor Ademola Adeleke in Obokun local government.

Tagged “Skills to Wealth Empowerment Programme” the multi-million naira initiative took the forms of cash and material support for men, women and youth in the Obokun State Constituency.

Items distributed included mobile shops, deep freezers, generators, sewing machines, hair dryers, grinding machines, barbers’ kit, grants, tires, and sprayers for farmers across the ten wards in his constituency.

The lawmaker has earlier in the day commissioned a motor park he built for members of Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) and National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Ibokun branch.

Speaking at the commaioning, Adeyemi charged the people of Obokun local government, NURTW and RTEAN on judicious use of the motor park and continue to be in unity like the name “Unity park”.

He also admonished the constituents to vote for Governor Ademola Adeleke of Accord for second term in office come August 8th, 2026.

Speaking further during the empowerment, Adeyemi reeled out some of his achievements as a lawmaker representing the area at the State parliament.

He said, “in terms of lawmaking, I have several bills in the house. Some have become laws while some are currently at different stages of legislation. I sponsored the Osun State Disability Protection Bill, which has been enacted into law now.

“Part of my various educational, welfare, and empowerment initiatives, is payment of WAEC and NECO fees for less privileged students in my constituency annually, payment of school fees for out-of-school children to ensure eduction is affordable and available to all.

“Also, I will be giving a token for Christmas and New Year celebrations for our people.”

Speaking on Saturday’s empowerment programme, Adeyemi said the aim is to continue the act of giving back to his constituents to lift them out of unemployment and poverty. He added that this was not the first time of its kind, and more are coming between January and February next year.

“Out of these beneficiaries, over 10 person with disabilities received N200,000 cash with mobile shops, and a Point of Sale (POS) machine each, while another set of 300 constituents got other valuable and wealth creation items to boost their businesses and upscale them,” he said.

“Let me say that whatever we’re doing today was made possible by Governor Ademola Adeleke. I want to call on everyone to continue to support our Governor and by next year, we are all going to vote Accord.”

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party in the state, Hon. Sunday Bisi commended the lawmaker for being a fantastic representative his people.

Bisi said the PDP is determined to ensure the federal constituency and Osun East senatorial district are returned to the party.

“Hon. Adewumi Adeyemi IREKANDU is a good representative of the party, and the constituency. He has consistently demonstrated that genuine leadership is rooted in selfless service and deep community impact. Come 2026, we urge you to vote for our Governor and in 2027, we shall be sending the current occupants of our seats at the House of Representatives and the Senate packing and return the seats to the PDP,” the Party Chairman declared.

Addressing the beneficiaries, lawmaker representing Ede North/Ede South/Egbedore/Ejigbo federal constituency, Bamidele Salam commended the Obokun lawmaker for having the interest of his people at heart.

Salam urged the beneficiaries and the people of Obokun local government to support their son who described as a kind and caring representative of the people.

“Please support your son, encourage him and always stand by him. To have someone like him is not common and doing everything he’s doing shows he loves you all and care about your progress.

“As you are standing by Governor Ademola Adeleke, I urge you all to stand by Hon. Irekandu. 2026 we shall all come out and vote Governor Adeleke.

“Governor Ademola is still the best Governor in the history of Osun state, Ede federal constituency will deliver 120, 000 votes for Governor Adelekein 2026 gubernatorial election and I believe you can emulate us.” The Chairman of House of Representatives Public Account said.

Speaker of the House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun described Irekandu as a dependable colleague who continues to work hard for the interests of his people and betterment of Osun.

The Speaker donated sum of N50,000 each to persons with disabilities who benefited from the mobile shops.

Appreciating the gesture, members of the Obokun NURTW showered prayers on the lawmaker and appreciated God for the official commissioning of the modern motor park, which was described as “answered prayer”.

Beneficiaries of the empowerment took turns to appreciate the gesture of Adeyemi, while promising to remain steadfast in their support for him.

Also present at the event include Ibukun Fadipe, Chairman of Osun SUBEB, Commissioner for Transportation Hon. Olusesan Oyedele, Special Adviser on marketing to Governor Adeleke, Chief Mrs Eniola Omotosho Grace, Obokun PDP chairman, Prince Adelani Owoeye, Hon. Mayowa Anjorin, traditional rulers, among others.
