Osun State Deputy Governor, Kola Adewusi, on Friday declared that the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ife Federal Constituency had been resolved.
Naijaonpoint reports that Adewusi made the remarks after hosting a stakeholders’ reconciliation meeting at his residence in Ile-Ife, where party leaders agreed to bury their differences and work collectively for the PDP’s success.
The crisis erupted on September 1, when PDP leaders in the constituency passed a vote of no confidence in Adewusi, former PDP National Secretary, Wale Oladipo, and Ife East PDP Chairman, Olasunkanmi Makinde.
The trio were accused of anti-party activities and alleged fraternisation with former House of Representatives member, Bimbo Ajilesoro, who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a communiqué signed by 39 PDP leaders, including Commissioners Biyi Odunlade (Political Affairs) and Dipo Eluwole (Education), the leaders condemned Ajilesoro’s defection and expressed disappointment over continued ties with him.
Party sources who spoke with Punch, however, linked the feud to speculation that Governor Ademola Adeleke might replace Adewusi with another indigene from Ife ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
Addressing journalists, Adewusi dismissed fears of division within the party.
“We have forgotten the past and turned a new leaf. PDP is one, there is no division. Even the tongue and mouth disagree sometimes, but today everything has been resolved. It’s a storm in a teacup,” he said.
He further stated that the reconciliation enjoyed the blessing of the senatorial chairman and other stakeholders.
“The Devil wanted to play his game, but we won’t allow him,” Adewusi stressed.
Osun East Central District PDP leader, Olayiwola Famuyide, praised Governor Adeleke for intervening to broker peace among aggrieved factions.
At a separate reconciliation meeting attended by Adewusi, Deputy Senate Minority Leader Lere Oyewumi, State PDP Chairman Sunday Bisi, and Commissioners’ Forum Chairman Ganiyu Olaoluwa, Governor Adeleke attributed the feud to communication gaps.
He urged party leaders to close ranks and focus on unity to deliver victory in future elections.
