As the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) holds its governorship primary in Osun, the party’s electoral committee has confirmed that Governor Ademola Adeleke and his co-aspirant, Adebayo Adedamola, both appeared on the ballot.
The committee’s Secretary, Sunday Solarin, said the governor’s resignation was announced after voting documents had been finalised, leaving no room to alter or reprint the ballot.
He noted that the announcement came late Monday night, after ballots had been printed and packed for delegate voting.
“There are two aspirants vying for the PDP ticket, but one of them, Governor Ademola Adeleke, resigned from the party late on Monday, and we couldn’t amend the ballot,” Solarin said.
Solarin further briefed delegates to ignore the governor’s name despite its presence on the voting paper, clarifying that only one candidate still qualifies for the ticket.
“So, as you prepare to cast your vote, bear in mind that only Adebayo Adedamola remains the PDP aspirant, as his opponent resigned from the party,” he added.
As of the time of filing this report, delegates had concluded voting, and ballot collation had begun inside strategic desks monitored by INEC observers present for documentation.
Party officials were seen sorting papers and running tallies at technical collation tables Tuesday morning in Osogbo, ahead of formal result declaration.
