The Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State has reacted to the vote of no confidence reportedly passed on Deputy Governor Prince Kola Adewusi and PDP Board of Trustees member, Prof Wale Oladipo, by stakeholders in Ife Federal Constituency.
In a statement issued by Osun PDP Chairman, Sunday Bisi On Tuesday, the state chapter of the party called for calm among members and urged stakeholders to suspend further actions that could escalate the crisis.
It emphasized that grievances must be addressed through the internal conflict resolution mechanisms of the party rather than public declarations or unilateral pronouncements.
The party restated its respect for the deputy governor and other leaders, describing them as critical pillars in the PDP structure.
The Osun PDP also warned against any actions that could undermine party authority, insisting that all members must adhere to party rules and procedures.
According to the party, immediate steps are being taken as concerned stakeholders have been summoned to a meeting aimed at resolving the dispute.
The party further appealed to members in Ife Federal Constituency to embrace peace and unity in the interest of the people of Osun State.
It was gathered that the Members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ife Federal Constituency passed vote of no confidence on the Osun State Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi, and former National Secretary of the party, Prof. Wale Adewusi and PDP Chairman in Ife East Local Government, Hon Olasunkanmi Makinde over alleged anti party activities.
The party members at a meeting held yesterday at a Senatorial leader’s residence in Ile-Ife posited that actions of the three party leaders in the constituency could pose danger to the success of the party in Ifeland.
In a communique issued and signed by 39 members of the party including Commissioner for Education, Hon Dipo Eluwole , Commissioner for Inter-party Affairs, Hon Biyi Odunlade among others accused the three party leaders of fraternising with Hon. Bimbo Ajilesoro, Member of the House of Representatives, who had since defected from the party.
“That the party is dissatisfied with the actions and conduct of Hon. Bimbo Ajilesoro, Member of the House of Representatives, who defected from the party with the mandate freely given to him by our people.
“That party leaders strongly condemn the invitation of thugs and hoodlums to the Ife Federal Constituency meeting by the Party Chairman, Hon. Olasunkanmi Makinde (a.k.a Benco), purportedly on the instructions of Prof. Wale Oladipo. This meeting was earlier scheduled to be held at the residence of the deputy governor.
“That the leadership is equally disappointed by the continued fraternity of Prof. Wale Oladipo, the Deputy Governor Prince Kola Adewusi, and the Ife East PDP Chairman, Hon. Olasunkanmi Makinde (a.k.a Benco), with Hon. Bimbo Ajilesoro, who has since defected from the party.
“That in Ife East, the party is enraged that loyal members, such as Lawrence Omotosho, Adeyinka Adeniji (a.k.a Gbogbo Ebe), Yakubu Olawusi, and others, who openly disassociated themselves from Hon. Bimbo Ajilesoro, following his defection, are being continuously victimized by being relieved of their government and party positions. More importantly, party meetings in Ife East Local Government have been put on hold by these leaders, thereby weakening party activities in the area.
“In view of the above, which amount to anti-party activities and pose grave danger to the success of the party in Ifeland, the meeting hereby resolves as follows:
“A vote of no confidence is passed on, Prof. Wale Oladipo, the Deputy Governor Prince Kola Adewusi, and the PDP Chairman of Ife East Local Government, Hon. Olasunkanmi Makinde (a.k.a Benco).”
