OSUN: Stay away from LG secretariats, Adeleke warns residents amid APC-PDP clash

Adeleke

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has issued a directive urging residents and politicians to stay away from local government secretariats, following violent clashes triggered by an alleged illegal takeover attempt by sacked APC chairmen and councillors.

The governor’s directive aims to prevent further bloodshed and protect public assets. In a statement posted on his official X account, Adeleke condemned the APC’s actions, which he claims have resulted in the loss of five PDP members and several others wounded.

The affected areas include Iragbiji, Boripe local government, Ola Oluwa Local Government, and Ikire. Adeleke expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and assured residents of Osun that security agencies have been directed to take full control of all local government secretariats to ensure their safety and protection.

The crisis has led to workers under the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees withdrawing their services across the state, leaving council secretariats under lock and key. Adeleke’s directive is an attempt to restore order and prevent further violence.
