The All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared its success in the Saturday’s by-elections across 16 federal and state constituencies as a clear indication of Nigerians’ growing confidence in the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
According to the party, the outcome of the polls serves as a direct endorsement of Tinubu’s leadership, the Renewed Hope Agenda, and the APC’s evolving direction under its new National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda.
The APC emerged victorious in 12 of the 16 contested seats, reclaiming critical constituencies in both the National and State Assemblies.
The party described the results as not only a reaffirmation of its political dominance but also a reflection of the Nigerian electorate’s approval of the administration’s ongoing reforms and governance priorities.
Among the notable wins were the fiercely contested Edo Central Senatorial seat, several House of Representatives positions in Kaduna, Jigawa, Ogun, and Edo, and state assembly seats in Adamawa, Taraba, Niger, Ekiti, and Kano.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Lagos APC spokesman Hon. Seye Oladejo hailed the results as a landmark victory for the party and a powerful message to detractors who have questioned Tinubu’s popularity amid economic challenges.
“Critics have often questioned the popularity and effectiveness of President Tinubu’s administration. However, the outcome of these by-elections has provided a referendum of sorts — one that places confidence in his leadership, his policies, and his long-term vision for a more prosperous Nigeria,” Oladejo said.
“From the North to the South, the people have spoken loudly through the ballot box. APC’s sweeping victories — including the highly contested Edo Central Senatorial Seat, House of Representatives seats in Kaduna, Jigawa, Ogun, and Edo, and State Assembly seats in Adamawa, Taraba, Niger, Ekiti, and Kano — reflect the public’s appreciation for the policies, reforms, and governance style of the Tinubu-led administration.
“In an atmosphere charged with opposition propaganda and economic headwinds, the APC stood tall and unshaken. Rather than cower under pressure, the government focused on stabilizing the economy, tackling insecurity, strengthening infrastructure, and pursuing bold fiscal reforms. These by-election results are a direct endorsement of that focus.”
He noted that rather than being swayed by opposition narratives, Nigerians have shown faith in the government’s ability to steer the country through difficult times.
The results, Oladejo said, underscore the public’s recognition of the administration’s efforts to stabilise the economy, tackle insecurity, and reform key sectors through bold policies.
The APC also lauded Yilwatda, whose leadership was credited with instilling new energy, strategic coordination, and a disciplined approach across the party’s structures nationwide.
While the APC celebrated its gains, the results proved disappointing for many opposition parties. The African Democratic Congress (ADC) failed to register a single seat. Also, the Labour Party (LP), which had gained significant visibility in the 2023 general elections, failed to secure any seats.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won just one seat in Oyo State, while the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) retained a single seat in Kano. The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) claimed two seats in Anambra, reflecting its regional strength in the Southeast.
According to Oladejo, the outcome of the by-elections is more than a political victory—it is a symbolic reaffirmation of the people’s belief in the APC’s ability to deliver.
“This victory is not just a win at the ballot box — it is a declaration that the APC, under Yilwatda’s leadership, is re-energized, refocused, and ready for the tasks ahead, especially the 2027 general elections,” Oladejo stated.
“With the APC’s dominance reaffirmed, the stage is being set for a grand 2027 showdown. These by-election victories are not just statistical triumphs; they are symbolic wins that underscore the trust Nigerians have placed in the Tinubu-led administration.
“The message is clear: Nigerians believe in the APC. They believe in the Renewed Hope Agenda. They believe that the country, though challenged, is on the right path. And when the time comes in 2027, the people will remember who stood firm in times of uncertainty, who led with courage, and who delivered results.”
