Founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, has narrated a dramatic encounter from 1987 in Kaduna, where he alleged that unknown individuals planted marijuana in his vehicle in an attempt to implicate him.
The incident, captured in a viral video circulating online on Tuesday, was shared by the cleric while addressing his congregation.
Oyedepo said the plot was uncovered through what he described as a divinely orchestrated discovery by his former driver, Clifford, who insisted on washing the car that morning after arriving from Katsina.
According to him, “Some fellows planted marijuana in my car in those days, 1987, in Kaduna, at the mechanical shop. I’ve never seen it in my life, so I wouldn’t know.”
He recounted how Clifford removed the car seat while cleaning and found a freshly wrapped substance, prompting him to rush to the cleric in fear.
Oyedepo said, “Clifford ran to me, shivering, and I said, ‘What’s the matter?’ He said, ‘See, see, see.’ I said, ‘What is it?’
“He said, ‘That’s one of the things my wife plants behind the house.’
“He said, ‘This is wee-wee.’ I said, ‘What is wee-wee?’”
Oyedepo, who said he encountered Jesus early in life, added that he had no familiarity with hard drugs.
The bishop said the gravity of the situation became clear later that evening when policemen flagged down his car for a search.
He continued, “That night, I was returning home from the office, and the policeman who would salute me stopped me. I said, ‘What for?’ He said, ‘We want to check.’
“They went to the exact spot where that thing was kept. I said, ‘Shame on you.’ He said, ‘Sorry, sir.’”
Oyedepo suggested that the officers appeared aware of the planted item and believed he would still have it in the car.

Reflecting on the episode, the cleric said it reinforced his belief in divine protection and the need for early Christian devotion.
He further stated, “No one can keep himself. We are kept by the power of God. There are many poor people in prison today who didn’t do anything. They just found themselves there by the scheming of the wicked.”
He prayed that none of his listeners would fall victim to similar plots.
The bishop concluded by recalling the moment he became a Christian as a young boy in 1969.
He said, “I’m so glad that no aspect of my life has been wasted. I’m so glad that I found Him early, February 19, 1969. My wonderful woman teacher… I saw love in her eyes, so it was easy for me to follow her God. She prayed for me that simple prayer, and that changed my life forever.”
