The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, CCII has declared its readiness to remain apolitical ahead of the 2027 general elections.
CCII which is the apex sociocultural organisation for all indigenes of Ibadan noted that its goals are to pursue the interest of the ancient city and not to involve in partisan politics.
In order to achieve those aims, the organisation advised all executive members of the organisation or those who are holding special positions not to involve in politics.
CCII President, Chief Sulaimon Ajewole made these assertions while speaking at the August monthly meeting of the organisation.
The meeting was held on Friday.
It was attended by hundreds of indigenes of the ancient city.
Ajewole while addressing the gathering, urged members holding executive or any special position within the council to shun partisan politics.
He advised them to remain committed to the interests and unity of Ibadanland and not to engage in political activities.
Ajewole while speaking further, stressed the need for neutrality, discipline and dedication among members entrusted with special responsibilities.
He noted that individuals occupying special posts should place the collective interests of Ibadan indigenes above personal or political interests.
He warned that partisan activities could undermine the unity and objectives of the organisation.
Ajewole in his address urged “members holding special positions within the council to shun partisan politics and remain committed to the interests and unity of Ibadanland.
