The Oyo State House of Assembly has congratulated the Olubadan-designate, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, describing his approval as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland as a historic moment for the ancient city.
A delegation of lawmakers, led by Deputy Speaker, Hon. Muhammad Abiodun Fadeyi, paid a courtesy visit to Oba Ladoja at his Bodija residence in Ibadan on Sunday.
Speaking on behalf of Speaker Adebo Ogundoyin, Fadeyi said the Assembly was proud to identify with the elder statesman, who Governor Seyi Makinde recently approved to ascend the royal stool.
Fadeyi said, “The entire Oyo State House of Assembly is delighted to identify with His Imperial Majesty on this well-deserved honour.
“Oba Ladoja’s life of leadership, wisdom, and selfless service resonates deeply with us all, and we believe his reign will usher in peace, unity, and greater development in Ibadanland.”
The delegation prayed for a peaceful coronation and pledged the full support of the legislature to strengthen traditional institutions in the state.
Fadeyi assured the monarch that the Assembly would continue to work in harmony with traditional rulers to advance the cultural and socio-economic development of Oyo State.
In his response, Oba Ladoja expressed appreciation to the lawmakers for the visit, describing it as a reflection of unity between political and traditional institutions.
He commended the Assembly’s role in promoting good governance and pledged his commitment to preserving the cultural heritage of Ibadanland.
The coronation of Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland has been scheduled for September 26, 2025, at the historic Mapo Hall, Ibadan.
