A soldier named Abubakar has reportedly killed a Nigerian Civil and Security Defence Corps (NSCDC) officer, Olapade Segun.

Abubakar and Segun allegedly encountered each other at a nightclub in the Bodija area of Oyo State on Friday.

Reports revealed that yesterday, a heated argument broke out between the two security personnel, prompting Abubakar to draw his dagger.

Sources familiar with the incident, who wished to remain anonymous, stated that Abubakar stabbed Segun, leading to his death from the resulting blood loss.

One source also revealed that a mob, enraged by the situation, attacked the soldier as he attempted to flee the scene.

“A soldier named Abubakar and an NSCDC officer had a heated argument at a nightclub in the Bodija area of Ibadan. Angered by the confrontation, the soldier pulled out his dagger and stabbed the NSCDC officer, who subsequently died from blood loss. The soldier tried to escape, but an angry crowd caught him and severely beat him. It was only after his colleagues arrived and dispersed the crowd that he was able to get away,” the source said.

Another source mentioned that senior officers from the Nigerian Army have been visiting the NSCDC state command to investigate the incident.

“I heard the Army has formed a panel to look into the matter, as some senior officers have been visiting the state command regarding the incident.”

Attempts to reach the Director of Nigerian Army Public Relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, yesterday evening were unsuccessful. His phone was switched off, and he had not yet responded to a message sent to him at the time of this report.

His NSCDC counterpart, Babawale Afolabi, also did not answer multiple calls and is yet to respond to messages regarding the incident.
