THE Oyo State Police Command has rescued a 60-year-old man, Isiaku Saidu, who was abducted in Iseyin Local Government Area, and arrested several suspects linked to kidnapping and murder across the state.

According to a statement issued yesterday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, the operations were carried out following strict directives from the Commissioner of Police, Femi Haruna, to intensify efforts to protect lives and property.

Ayanlade said the police foiled a kidnapping operation in Budo, Iseyin, on January 11, 2026, after armed suspects abducted Saidu.

Acting swiftly, operatives launched coordinated patrols and search operations that led them to the kidnappers’ hideout.

During the encounter, one suspect was neutralised, another was arrested and is cooperating with investigators, while others escaped with gunshot injuries.

The police urged residents to report anyone seen with suspicious bullet wounds to the nearest police station.

In a related operation, the command also rescued another abducted victim, Hussinat Abubakar, at Gelede Camp in Komu, Itesiwaju Local Government Area.

The victim was freed without any ransom payment, and three suspects—Kari Ibrahim (22), Dure Jimoh (25), and Abubakar Sidi (55)—were arrested.

Police said the suspects confessed to their involvement, while investigations continue to track down other members of the syndicate.

The rescued victim is currently receiving medical care, and the suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

The police described the operations as part of ongoing efforts to curb kidnapping and violent crime across Oyo State.
