Nigerian music executive and talent manager, Soso Soberekon, has narrated a recent experience that caused panic in his neighbourhood.
Taking to his Instagram story, Soberekon revealed that a helicopter suddenly flew over his compound, creating fear and confusion among residents who rushed indoors for safety. The unexpected noise and low altitude of the aircraft reportedly sparked rumours that American troops had arrived in Nigeria following growing international tensions.
He humorously recounted the moment, writing:
“Helicopter fly pass my compound today, everybody run enter house. We think say American soldiers don come already.”
The incident comes on the heels of a controversial statement by former U.S. President Donald Trump, who recently threatened possible military intervention in Nigeria. Trump alleged that Christians in the country were being massacred by radical Islamists and accused the Nigerian government of failing to uphold religious freedom.
In his remarks, Trump claimed to have instructed the U.S. military to prepare for potential action and disclosed that Nigeria would be designated as a “Country of Particular Concern.” He also warned that the U.S. could suspend aid and “go in guns blazing” if the Nigerian authorities did not take immediate steps to end the killings.
