Paper Talk: Top Liverpool, Chelsea target Tchouameni makes big transfer decision; Man Utd firm favourites to land Prem maestro as Liverpool pull out

Liverpool and Chelsea have been informed of a major transfer decision involving top midfield target Aurelien Tchouameni, while Sunday’s Paper Talk also claims that Manchester United have been given a big lift to their hopes of signing Youri Tielemans.

TCHOUAMENI MAKES BIG TRANSFER DECISION

Liverpool and Chelsea look to have suffered a big blow to their hopes of landing top midfield target Aurelien Tchouameni this summer.

The Monaco star has been outstanding for the Ligue 1 outfit this season, leading to rumours that he will be on the move for a fee in the region of €50million.

Both Jurgen Klopp and Thomas Tuchel are known to rate the 22-year-old’s talents very highly. However, it looks like they might miss out on the talented midfielder.

Indeed, Tchouameni has indicated, like fellow Premier League target Erling Haaland, that he favours a switch to Real Madrid.

In terms of Liverpool‘s interest, the Reds are still to replace Gini Wijnaldum and believe Tchouameni can fill that void.

Chelsea are after the player as a long-term replacement for N’Golo Kante. However, they are currently hampered by the takeover saga surrounding the club after Roman Abramovich was forced to sell.

Finally, the report adds that Tchouameni believes he will have a better chance of first-team football at the Bernabeu. That is down to the fact that Real have an aging midfield, with Luka Modric 36, Toni Kroos 32 and Casemiro 30.

PAPER TALK – MAN UTD HANDED TIELEMANS LIFT

Liverpool have been completely ruled out of the race to sign Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans this summer.

The Reds, along with Manchester United and Arsenal, have been chasing the Belgium star for some time.

However, according to CBS Sports, Jurgen Klopp has other priority signings lined-up, which do not include swooping for the 24-year-old.

The report adds that United and Arsenal continue to chase Tielemans, while there is no foundation to reported West Ham interest.

The Foxes star has scored seven times in 38 appearances in all competitions for the club this term.

However, one problem which could arise for the Red Devils in the summer market would be if they fail to qualify for the Champions League.

A separate report on Sunday suggests they could miss out on millions if they do not finish in the top four. That is due to a clause included in the club’s shirt sponsor deal.

Principal partner Team Viewer replaced Chevrolet a year ago as United’s front-of-shirt sponsor in a five deal believed to be worth around £235 million.

But if United are not in the Champions League next season they won’t bank the performance-related bonuses built into the £47 million-a-season contract.

PAPER TALK – TOTTENHAM SET ROYAL PRICE

Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty celebrate for Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham will reportedly demand €25million (£20.8m) if they opt to sell full-back Emerson Royal this summer.

The Brazilian also signed in 2021 when he swapped Barcelona for north London in a £25.8m deal.

However, the right-back has struggled to hold down a regular first-team spot, especially since Antonio Conte’s arrival at the club.

Matt Doherty has often been preferred ahead of the 23-year-old. However, he did start the 4-0 win at Aston Villa, with Doherty lining up on the left.

But speaking recently, Royal admitted interest from Atletico Madrid in snapping up his signature.

And now a fresh report suggests that Royal will be one of a number of Tottenham stars shipped out by Conte.

Whatsmore, Spurs are looking to recoup the majority of the fee they forked out for the player.

The report from Spanish outlet Fichajes adds that, although Atletico are prepared to pay that amount, they are still keen on reducing it further.

Royal has made 33 appearances in all competitions for Tottenham this season. He grabbed his first goal for the club in the recent 5-1 drubbing on Newcastle.

Luton Town and Preston North End in transfer tussle to sign 28-year-old

According to a report from Football Insider, both Luton Town and Preston North End are interested in the signing of Hull City goalkeeper Matt Ingram.

City’s first choice goalkeeper has been Nathan Baxter who joined on loan from Chelsea but given his return to his parent club, you can assume that the Tigers could be keen to keep hold of Ingram for themselves.

Furthermore, the fact the club have triggered a 12 month extension of his contract which was due to expire at the end of June supports this case.

The 28-year-old made 29 appearances for Hull this season so it’s clear he has the ability at this level.

Quiz: Can you name which club Luton Town sold these 16 players to from the last decade?

However, he did join Luton on loan at the end of the season on an emergency loan after a serious injury to Hatters’ number one James Shea.

The goalkeeper played two games for Luton at the end of the season and then delayed his own honeymoon to play for them in the play-off semi-finals against Huddersfield.

As a result, Nathan Jones is said to be impressed with his commitment and therefore are keen on him.

Preston, however, are in desperate need of a goalkeeper as it stands since on-loan Daniel Iversen has returned to his parent club Leicester City whilst Connor Ripley has been released leaving the Lilywhites with no goalkeepers currently.

The Verdict:

You can see why Ingram is wanted by multiple sides and Hull have made the right choice to extend his contract to ensure that if he does go this summer, they will have the finances to be able to find a replacement goalkeeper.

Furthermore, if either team want him now they are going to have to pay for him with will lead us to discover if any team actually want him that much.

Both Luton and Preston need goalkeepers and you can understand why Jones would be so keen to keep him on given the commitment he has shown to the side already.

Furthermore, given the fact he did a good job with Luton who have been at the higher end of the table this season suggests where he may favour moving to if he has the choice.

Burton Albion are interested in making a summer move for West Ham United central midfielder Ossama Ashley, Football League World has exclusively learnt.

The 22-year-old has seen his progress within the academy of the Premier League club hindered by several injuries that he has picked up.

Ashley played nine minutes in an EFL Trophy clash against Colchester United back in September, with his next game for the club’s U23s coming in a Premier League Cup contest against Swansea City in mid-February.

Burton, who finished the League One campaign in 16th place, will be hoping to progress up the division when the 2022/23 campaign rolls around, with Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink appearing to start the recruitment process early this summer.

The Brewers have been no strangers to completing moves for youthful players at Premier League clubs, with Joe Powell, Gassan Ahadme and Terry Taylor representing more recent examples of this.

A tough-tackling and tenacious player, Ashley is also a technically-gifted midfield operator, as it remains to be seen if Burton strengthen their interest in the young Hammer.
