The Oyo State Police Command has announced sweeping security measures ahead of the 2025 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Convention scheduled for Saturday, November 15, and Sunday, November 16, at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan.

In a statement released on 𝕏 on Friday, dated November 13, 2025, and signed by the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Osifeso Adewale, the police disclosed that they were “ramping up security measures to guarantee a safe and peaceful event,” noting that the convention is expected to attract key political figures, international observers, media representatives, guests, and participants from across the nation.

According to the statement, the Command has developed “a robust security strategy” in collaboration with other security agencies to manage the expected large turnout.

The strategy includes proactive confidence-building patrols, enhanced surveillance activities, intelligence-driven stop-and-search operations and tighter security at all entry and exit points into Oyo State.

The police added that “critical locations such as public parks, train stations, and the Samuel Ladoke Akintola International Airport in Ibadan will be closely monitored.”

To minimise disruptions, residents were urged to avoid routes around Adamasingba during the two-day event.

“We encourage members of the public to explore alternative routes from the venue in a bid to prevent any potential disruptions in their movement plans for the period in view,” the statement said.

The Command cautioned that “any forms of public unrest, including unauthorised rallies or gatherings within the city” would not be tolerated.

Reassuring the public of its readiness, the Command said it remained committed to protecting lives and property throughout the convention period.
