PDP Crisis Worsens As Ex-VP Sambo Defects To APC

Namadi sambo

Former Vice President Namadi Sambo has reportedly dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Sambo was vice president under former President Goodluck Jonathan from 2010 to 2015.

The ex vice president’s defection was announced by an APC chieftain in Kaduna State, Imran Muhammad in his X account on Wednesday.

A gale of defections has hit the erstwhile ruling party in the last few months, with the defection of Governors Sheriff Oborevwori and Umo Eno of Delta and Akwa Ibom states respectively being the most devastating to the PDP.

Ex Vice President Sambo had been actively participating in public activities and stakeholder meetings of the PDP in recent times.

He attended the party’s last National Executive Committee (NEC) in Abuja on May 27 among other party functions.

No reasons were cited for his defection and efforts to reach the ex VP or some of his aides were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
