PDP, LP Absent As INEC Releases Final List Of Candidates For 2026 Osun Governorship Election

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP) were conspicuously missing in the final list of candidates released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the 2026 Osun Governorship Election.

According to a statement issued by INEC’s Public Relations Officer in Osun State, Musa Olurode, the cleared parties include Accord (A), Action Alliance (AA), African Action Congress (AAC), African Democratic Congress (ADC), Action Democratic Party (ADP), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), All Progressives Congress (APC), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Action Peoples Party (APP), Boot Party (BP), New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Young Progressive Party (YPP), and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).

In other news, six members of the House of Representatives from Osun State recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Accord Party.

Naijaonpoint reports that the lawmakers made their decision known on Monday during a stakeholders’ meeting of the Accord Party held in Osogbo.

The announcement was made by Clement Akanni, who represents Boluwaduro/Ifedayo/Ila Federal Constituency.

He spoke on behalf of the other lawmakers who joined him in the move.

Those who defected include Mahruf Adewale of Osogbo Federal Constituency, Bamidele Salam of Ede Federal Constituency, Soji Adetunji of Ikirun Federal Constituency, Mudashiru Lukman Alani of Iwo Federal Constituency, and Lanre Oladebo of Irewole/Isokan Federal Constituency. Akanni said they had all decided to move to the Accord Party.
