The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the suspension of senior members of the National Working Committee (NWC) who are seen as allies to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
Naijaonpoint reports that the decision to suspended them was taken at the 608th meeting of the PDP NWC held on Saturday, November 1st, 2025.
Those suspended for one month and referred to the National Disciplinary Committee include: National Secretary, Sen. Samuel Anyanwu, National organizing Secretary, Hon. Umar Bature, National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade, SAN, Deputy National Legal Adviser, Barr. Okechukwu Osuoha.
This was disclosed to newsmen by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Debo Ologunagba.
He said: “During this period of the suspension, they cease to function in their respective capacities.
“In the case of the National Secretary, Pursuant to Section 36(2) of our Party Constitution as amended in 2017, the Deputy National Secretary, Hon. Arc. Setonji Koshoedo shall act as the National Secretary.
“In the case of the National Legal Adviser and the Deputy National Legal Adviser, the National Director of Legal Services is hereby directed to oversees the activities of the Department.”
The affected officials had in recent months distanced themselves from party meetings and activities, deepening internal divisions within the PDP.
Naijaonpoint reports that tension in the opposition party recently heightened over its planned national convention scheduled for November 15 and 16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.
On Friday, a Federal High Court in Abuja ordered the PDP to halt preparations for the convention, ruling that internal disputes over delegates and leadership must first be resolved.
Reacting to the ruling, Ologunagba said the party would appeal the judgement, insisting that it would not derail its preparations.
“The PDP respects the judiciary, but we will challenge this ruling at the appellate court. Our preparations for the national convention remain on course,” he stated.
