PDP Youth Alliance Urges Governors To Challenge President Tinubu’s Actions In Rivers

Preseident Bola Tinubu

The PDP Youth Alliance, in an open letter to the PDP Governors Forum, has called on the forum to challenge President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s application of Section 305 of Nigeria’s 1999 constitution in Rivers State at the Supreme Court.

The alliance argues that stripping the people of Rivers State of their democratically elected leadership is undemocratic and negates the rule of law.

The letter, signed by Hon. Wisdom Kieribo, Coordinator of the PDP Youth Alliance in Bayelsa State and Chairman of the South-South zone, emphasizes the need for the PDP Governors Forum to safeguard Nigeria’s democracy through legitimate means.

Kieribo stresses that the forum’s role is crucial in protecting the country’s hard-earned democracy and ensuring that the will of the people is not undermined by political rascality and constitutional misapplication.

The PDP Youth Alliance also pledged its support to the governors, urging them to leverage their institutional advantage to provide comfort to the people of Rivers State and all Nigerians.

The alliance, however, warned that if President Tinubu’s actions are allowed to stand, it could have far-reaching consequences for Nigeria’s democracy.

The PDP Governors Forum, currently chaired by Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, Governor of Bauchi State, has been vocal on issues affecting the country’s democracy.

The forum has 16 governors as members and aims to provide a platform for governors to interact and exchange knowledge, ideas, and experiences on how to move the party forward.
