PEAK Update & Release Date Revealed

After breaking out as one of the most popular indie games of 2025, PEAK has received several major content updates since launch, which now include another biome to hike through. Releasing on November 5, PEAK‘s next ‘Roots‘ biome offers a forest-focused map with tall trees and vines to swing between them.

Originally posted on Landfall Studios’ YouTube channel, the update is an exciting follow-up to PEAK‘s most recent Mesa biome, which featured a hostile desert biome filled with numerous deadly environmental hazards. While only a small preview of the new map has been shown so far, the sneak peek did reveal a new spider enemy for scouts to avoid while climbing to the top.

PEAK Is Getting A New Forest Biome This November

A New Reason To Hop Back Into Landfall’s Smash Hit

Released as a teaser for Peak‘s Root biome and its November 5 release date, the short trailer did at least reveal a few additional details to pick apart. With the previous Mesa having replaced the similarly temperature-based Alpine map, it’s more than likely that Roots will be replacing the Tropics biome based on the vines and similarly dense treescape found between them.

The Tropics are currently the second map you’ll encounter on each PEAK run, so you may not have to progress anywhere near as far to experience PEAK’s second rotating biome as its first. This should also bring plenty of exciting new obstacles and creative speedrun techniques with it.

The spider shown in the biome preview also seems to drop on unsuspecting players, likely representing a hazard that hides away in the tops of trees to prey on any Scouts that aren’t paying attention to their surroundings. Aside from the vines, some of the tall redwood-style trees of Peak’s new Roots biome also have platforms built around them, likely providing a moment of respite between each climbing attempt.

PEAK’s New Biome Is The Perfect Fit After The Mesa

Fixing The Problems With PEAK’s First Biome Update

Following the same surprise release trend as the last major update, PEAK‘s second Roots map has the perfect opportunity to learn from what worked and what didn’t from the previous Mesa biome. While Mesa did offer a plethora of interesting items and mechanics in the game, its sheer difficulty can often make it one of the more arduous maps to get through, especially with its challenging obstacles.

Landfall has already fixed the biome rotation bug and ironed out some of the other glitches associated with the harsh open landscapes of the Mesa, setting the stage for better things to come. PEAK‘s Roots biome is a fantastic change of pace with a much moodier and potentially even spookier map to explore.

While we don’t know what new environmental hazards and enemies apart from the spider to expect from Landfall’s latest update, it seems like mushrooms will also play a greater role in PEAK‘s new Roots biome, both as usable items and to get around the vast new forest.
