The 2023 presidential candidate for the Labour Party, Peter Obi has donated the sum of N10 million to the Francis Cardinal Arinze Secondary School in Nkwelle Ezunaka in Anambra State.
The former Anambra governor who visited the school on Tuesday, January 13, said he had the opportunity to interact with students on the importance of education in their lives, their families and the nation as a whole.
In a post made on X and titled, “Education: Rising Above a Broken System”, Obi said education and learning are vital in today’s development process.
He also said that change is imminent as progress will no longer be determined by physical assets but by innovations, knowledge among many others.
His words, “On Tuesday, January 13th, I visited Francis Cardinal Arinze Secondary School in Nkwelle Ezunaka and had the opportunity to interact with the students about the vital role of education in today’s development.
“I emphasised that the world is changing, and future progress will no longer be driven by physical assets such as land, buildings, or material possessions, but rather by ideas, knowledge, creativity, and skills. Those who control knowledge are the ones who succeed. Nations that recognise this will be the ones that thrive,” Obi said.
Writing further, the former governor said, for him, supporting education in all hemispheres is an avenue to show committment towards investing in society.
“This is why I will always support education in every way I can. As a practical demonstration of that commitment, I presented N10 million to help develop their school. Education is not an expense; it is the best investment any society can make in its future and its people.
“With education, a new Nigeria is POssible,” Obi added
