OPPO Find X8 Pro vs Huawei Pura 70 Ultra: Design

There are some similarities between these two smartphones as far as the design is concerned. They have similar corner curvature, while both phones have a centered display camera hole up top. Both of them also have quad micro-curved displays, in other words, the displays are not curved, but the glass on top of them is, on all four sides. The backplate is proportional to the front on both smartphones.

Speaking of which, not both phones have glass on the back. The Find X8 Pro does, Gorilla Glass 7i, while the Huawei Pura 70 Ultra has a silicone polymer back aka vegan leather. That makes Huawei’s flagship far more grippy in the hand, actually. The OPPO Find X8 Pro has a flatter frame than the Huawei Pura 70 Ultra, but it’s far from being flat like on some other smartphones.

Both phones have very thin bezels around the display, while those bezels are also uniform, by the way. The power/lock and volume rocker buttons sit on the right-hand side of both phones. The OPPO Find X8 Pro also has a camera shutter key on the right and an alert slider on the left side. The OPPO Find X8 Pro includes a camera oreo on the back, with four cameras on the inside. The Huawei Pura 70 Ultra also has a larger camera setup, with three cameras, but it’s not round, and it has a different placement. It’s placed in the top-left corner rather than the top middle part.

Both of these smartphones are IP68 certified, while the Find X8 Pro also comes with an IP69 certification. As already mentioned, the OPPO Find X8 Pro is more slippery in comparison. The two phones are almost identical in terms of height and width, while the Find X8 Pro is a bit wider. It is also a bit lighter, 11 grams lighter, to be exact.

This phone’s display is protected by the Kunlun Glass. The bezels around this panel are uniform.

Both of these displays are great, actually. They’re bright, vivid, and have great viewing angles. Both displays also come with high-frequency PWM dimming, and the blacks are as deep as you’d think considering these are OLED panels. Both displays are also very sharp and have thin bezels around them. The panel on the OPPO Find X8 Pro does get a bit brighter, though, even though both get bright enough.

OPPO Find X8 Pro vs Huawei Pura 70 Ultra: Performance

The MediaTek Dimensity 9400 processor fuels the OPPO Find X8 Pro handset. That is a 3nm chip, and it’s combined with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM here. UFS 4.0 flash storage is also on offer. The Huawei Pura 70 Ultra comes with the Kirin 9010 chip from Huawei, that is a 7nm processor. Huawei included 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM here, along with UFS 4.0 flash storage. The storage is non-expandable on both phones.

With that being said, yes, the OPPO Find X8 Pro does come with a more powerful processor. That chip is newer and more power-efficient too. The thing is, both smarpthones perform admirably, and you wouldn’t really know that the Find X8 Pro has a more powerful SoC based on day-to-day performance. Everything runs smoothly, and the two phones also do a great job with multitasking.

Where you will start noticing differences is in the gaming department. The OPPO Find X8 Pro can run the most demanding games without a problem. The Huawei Pura 70 Ultra is cut off from quite a number of the most-demanding games due to lack of Google services, so that’s also something to keep in mind. The ones that are available via AppGallery run great, but just note that you may have mixed results when sideloading.

There is a 5,910mAh battery located inside the OPPO Find X8 Pro. The Huawei Pura 70 Ultra, on the flip side, has a 5,200mAh battery on the inside. While both smartphones do offer great battery life, the OPPO Find X8 Pro does pull ahead. It offer better battery life overall. We’ve managed to pull out over 12 hours of screen-on-time during a trip to Bali on the phone, while the Huawei Pura 70 Ultra’s highest screen-on-time was around 8 hours, and in ideal conditions.

Your mileage may vary, of course, we’re just sharing our experience. It’s also worth noting that the OPPO Find X8 Pro did noticeably better in our battery drain test, around 25% better than the OPPO Find X8 Pro. Both smartphones do have good battery life, and chances are that you’ll be happy with what they provide. The standby time is also not bad on either phone based on what we’ve seen.

In regards to charging, they’re both well-equipped. The Find X8 Pro supports 80W wired, 50W wireless, and 10W reverse wireless charging. The Huawei Pura 70 Ultra, on the other hand, supports 100W wired, 80W wireless, 20W reverse wireless, and 18W reverse wired charging. The Pura 70 Ultra does charge a bit faster, and it’s probably the most versatile smartphone when the charging is concerned. Both devices do come with chargers in their retail boxes.

OPPO Find X8 Pro vs Huawei Pura 70 Ultra: Cameras

There are four 50-megapixel cameras on the back of the OPPO Find X8 Pro. A 50-megapixel main camera (1/1.4-inch sensor size) is backed by a 50-megapixel ultrawide unit (120-degree FoV, 1/2.75-inch sensor size). The first periscope telephoto unit is a 50-megapixel camera with 3x optical zoom (1/1.95-inch sensor size), while the second one is a 50-megapixel unit with 6x optical zoom (1/2.51-inch sensor size).

Huawei Pura 70 Ultra

The Huawei Pura 70 Ultra, on the flip side, has a 50-megapixel main camera (variable aperture, 1-inch type sensor size). A 40-megapixel ultrawide unit sits on the back too, while a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera (3.5x optical zoom) is also a part of the package here. Both smartphones are well-equipped in terms of hardware, though the Find X8 Pro has a more versatile camera setup. It is also backed by Hasselblad.

The images the two phones provide are notably different. The OPPO Find X8 Pro images are more contrasty, but also closer to real-life scenes, with great colors. The Huawei Pura 70 Ultra leans more towards warmer colors in the images it shoots. Both main cameras do a fantastic job, in both day and night. The secondary cameras do a good job of keeping the same color profile with the main camera, though we did prefer the periscope telephoto camera results from the OPPO Find X8 Pro. We also preferred the colors the Find X8 Pro provided.

Audio

There are stereo speakers included on both of these smartphones. The ones on the OPPO Find X8 Pro are notably louder than the ones on the Huawei Pura 70 Ultra, though. The side-by-side difference is jarring. The sound quality is good on both sides, though.

There is no audio jack on either of these two smartphones. They both do include Type-C ports, so you can use those to connect your wired headphones. Bluetooth 5.4 is included on the Find X8 Pro, while Bluetooth 5.2 is offered by the Huawei Pura 70 Ultra, for wireless audio connections.
