Google is back with yet another #BestFriendsForever ad. This time around, the Pixel and iPhone are actually singing together. As per usual, this is an entertaining video ad focused on Pixel’s features.
Pixel & iPhone are actually signing together in Google’s new video ad
The video has been published on YouTube, and it has a duration of exactly a minute. It is embedded below the article in case you’re interested in checking it out.
This ad has been inspired by The Wizard of Oz, or the new ‘Wicked’ movie, to be exact. That movie is set in the magical world of Oz, and it’s starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo.
With that being said, the two friends are at it again. The Pixel has taken the role of Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) from the movie, while the iPhone is Glinda (Ariana Grande).
In the video, iPhone really wants the wizard to grant him some of the “magical AI stuff” that he thinks Pixel got that way. The Pixel is trying to explain that the wizard had nothing to do with it, but it’s constantly getting interrupted.
Several features from Google’s Pixel phones are being advertised here
Those interruptions by the iPhone are actually an ad for features that Google’s Pixel phones come with, of course. Gemini Live is mentioned here, as it offers “free-flowing conversations”. The iPhone also mentions Pixel Studio and Circle to Search.
That conversation leads to the two phones signing together. The song is ‘Defying Gravity’, from the Wicked movie, of course. The video ends with the Google Pixel 9 Pro on the screen, of course.
Google released quite a few of these #BestFriendsTogether ads thus far, and people seem to love them. The comments are always a fun read on YouTube, so chances are we’ll keep seeing more of these videos moving forward.
