The Plateau Government has further relaxed the curfew it earlier imposed on Jos North Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.

Mrs Joyce Ramnap, the Commissioner for Information and Communications, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday in Jos.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalled that the state government had imposed a 48-hour curfew on Jos North LGA, following the attack by gunmen on Angwan Rukuba community of the area.

The government later relaxed the curfew and movements to between 7:00a.m. and 3:00p.m.

Ramnap said that following the improved security situation in the locality, the state government has further reviewed the curfew.

“‎Following the relative peace being experienced, the government in consultation with security agencies, has further relaxed the curfew hours earlier imposed on Jos North LGA.

‎”Effective Wednesday, April 8, curfew will be relaxed in Jos North and movement will be between 6:00a.m. and 6:00p.m. daily.

“Citizens are therefore urged to be mindful of this development and carry out their lawful duties within the relaxed hours not affected by curfew,” she said

She advised residents to remain indoors during the curfew hours, cooperate with security agencies and provide useful information that would support efforts towards maintaining law and order in the state.

She noted that Gov. Caleb Mutfwang had directed the security agencies to ensure residents strictly compliant with the curfew time. (NAN)
