PlayStation State of Play September 2025: Live Updates and Game Announcements

state of play september 2025

5:40PM – And that’s a wrap! If you like release dates and release windows, this was the stream for you. Marvel’s Wolverine is definitely the biggest news, but even some of the minor surprises like Deus Ex Remastered and Chronoscript are interesting. Thanks for following along, and I hope you got to see something you’re looking forward to in this State of Play!

5:39PM – Looks like the showcase is ending, with a final promise to show more of Wolverine in spring next year.

5:37PM – Insomniac promises a level of detail that surpasses the studio’s previous works — look, Logan’s pores. Some acknowledgment of other characters like Omega Red and Mystique.

5:35PM – More discussion of Marvel’s Wolverine now, emphasizing the violence and rage, along with his potential as an unreliable narrator. As someone who’s never quite latched onto the Insomniac Spider-Man games, the Wolverine footage does actually look a bit more interesting to me so far.

Alan Wake II joins the PS Plus Essential lineup alongside Cocoon and Goat Sim 3.

5:28PM Do you care about PlayStation-branded speakers? If you do, you’re in luck. Sony is a pretty solid audio brand, at any rate, and these come with some game-friendly features. I’m a little scared about what to expect in terms of bang for your buck, though.

5:25PM We got a look at a 2026 game called Chronoscript: The Endless End, which plays out within the pages of a manuscript. It looks pretty cool.

5:24PM – It’s just been revealed, but Let it Die: Inferno is almost here, arriving on December 6.

5:23PM – Actually, it’s a pivot to Grasshopper Manufacture for Let it Die: Inferno, the sequel to a stylish free-to-play “survival action” game.

5:22PM – This stream is chock-full of release dates. Another breather, though, as we discuss Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles. That being said, it sounds like there could be other Square Enix or Final Fantasy announcements coming shortly.

Saros Release Date Revealed

Housemarque’s Saros is set to release on March 20, 2026.

5:04PM Saros features a roguelite loop with permanent progression systems where “you will always come back stronger,” including a Sekiro-style second chance at life.

5:03PM – Between the sparse sci-fi aesthetics and shields that reflect projectiles, this feels pretty Dune. I’m not expecting any sandworms, though.

5:02PM – We’re getting Saros gameplay for the first time, running on PS5. To reiterate, this is from Housemarque, the studio behind the PS5 hit Returnal.

5:01PM – The State of Play has started! With a blazing desert sun, I’d assume we’re looking at Saros first.

4:50PM, Ben – PlayStation’s September 2025 State of Play is set to begin in 10 minutes. Sony hasn’t explained much about what to expect, but we do know we’ll be getting an “extended look” at Saros, the new title from Returnal developer Housemarque. Beyond that, there’s plenty of room for speculation about games like Marvel’s Wolverine, Resident Evil Requiem, or even an early look at FF7 Remake Part 3, although I wouldn’t hold out your hopes for that one. I’ll be covering the event live here, so you can check out all the news as it happens and follow along with the video below.
