The crisis in the Performing Musicians Employers Association of Nigeria (PMAN) has escalated as the National Executive Council (NEC) has suspended several members, including Sunny Neji, Zaaki Azzay, and Micheal ‘Ruggedman’ Stephen, over misconduct.
The NEC also relieved the General Secretary, Boniface Itodo, and Assistant General Secretary, Faga Bem Paul, of their duties. This development follows the suspension of President Pretty Okafor by the National Working Committee (NWC) last week, which was later halted by the NEC.
A five-member National Disciplinary Committee (NDC) was set up to investigate Okafor’s suspension and allegations against him. The NDC’s findings revealed attempts by NWC members to undermine the association’s integrity, including unauthorized suspensions and financial misconduct.
The NEC commended Okafor for his exceptional leadership and ability to manage the crisis effectively. The suspended members were found guilty of misconduct, including unauthorized payments and forgery. The NEC also alleged that the NWC contacted the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) without consent, potentially sabotaging PMAN’s developmental efforts.
