Pokemon Horizons may have bid a fond farewell to Ash Ketchum and Pikachu, but Liko and Roy find they have a lot going for them in the anime’s latest season. While the TV series introduced a lot of new characters in its early episodes, the anime is also taking the opportunity to bring characters from the games into the anime adaptation. Nemona first appeared in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, and is set to arrive in the anime series in the next episode, and the franchise has revealed who will be voicing the trainer.
Nemona may have been a player’s rival in Nintendo’s Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, but her personality was very different from many of the competitors that came before her. Gary Oak, for example, holds the title of first contender in Pokemon, made the jump from the original games to the anime, and has been a huge thorn in Ash Ketchum’s side for much of its journey. Nemona, on the other hand, was bubbly and friendly in the latest game entries of the franchise, which will likely translate to the anime when it hits Pokemon Horizons Episode 10.
Pokemon: Nimuna’s voice
Nemona’s voice actor is revealed as Eri Kitamura, who had a career in the anime industry. Anime fans may know Eri best for her role in My Hero Academia, where she played the acidic member of Class 1-A, Mina Ashido. Kitamura has also had roles in anime franchises including Blue Exorcist, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, and Fairy Tail to name a few. Eri also plays Juri in the Street Fighter franchise, with the latest installment released for consoles and PC this week.
Another trainer from the games will also appear in Prause, the Gym Leader of Artazon. Played by Kazuya Nakai, who plays Zoro in the One Piece series, Pokemon Horizons certainly offers the opportunity to bring some major players from recent video games into the anime. Since the Paldea region will play an important role for Liko and Roy, it will be interesting to see what other trainers, old and new, will appear.
