An Osun State Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo has ordered the remand of three persons in a Correctional Facility over the alleged kidnapping of an Osun Government surveyor.
The accused Oladapo Moruf(51), Adeyinka Mustapha(50) and Kasali Akeem(31) were dragged before the court on a six-count charge of kidnapping, illegal possession of firearms, breach of public peace, forceful entry and land grabbing.
Osun Police Prosecutor, Barrister Moses Faremi, arraigned the accused and alleged they committed the offences on 25 April 2025 at Agric Oke-Osun Osogbo.
He explained they conspired among themselves to commit felony to wit kidnapping, unlawful possession of firearms, forcible enter, land grabbing and conduct likely, adding that they unlawfully imprisoned one Alabi Oyebode who is a surveyor under Osun State without his consent.
According to him: “They have in their possession one Barretta pistol without licence or authority. The offences contravene Sections 364(1),27(1)(b),4, 8,249(4) and 4 of the Criminal Code Cap. 34 Vol.II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002, Firearms Act Cap F.28 laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004 and Osun State Forceful Entry and Illegal Occupation of Landed Properties (Prohibition) Law.”
The suspects pleaded not guilty to all the count charges as their lawyer, Dayo Adegbola made an oral bail application for them in the most liberal terms.
Faremi opposed the bail application, stating that they were armed when they were arrested and had tendencies to jump bail.
The presiding Magistrate, Dr Olusegun Ayilara ordered that they should be remanded in Correctional Facility and adjourned the matter to May 30, 2025 for a ruling of formal bail application.
