THE Lagos State Police Command has arrested 14 suspected traffic robbers along the Lekki–Epe Expressway in the past two weeks, following rising complaints from motorists over the theft of vehicle parts during traffic congestion.
The arrests were carried out at various points along the expressway by operatives of the Tactical Squad, Elemoro, according to the command’s spokesperson, CSP Abimbola Adebisi, who disclosed the development in a post on X yesterday.
Adebisi said the operation reflects the command’s commitment to strengthening security and safeguarding road users along the busy corridor, while urging residents to remain alert and promptly report suspicious activities.
The arrests come amid heightened public concern over traffic-related robberies in the Lekki axis, where criminals are reported to exploit gridlock to steal car parts and valuables from vehicles.
Earlier, technology influencer Fisayo Fosudo had raised alarm on social media, lamenting repeated theft of parts from his vehicle in traffic.
His post sparked further reactions from motorists, including warnings about specific car models being targeted, particularly at night, with suspects allegedly disguising as beggars or street hawkers.
Residents and commuters have long complained about criminal activities along the Lekki–Epe Expressway, especially during heavy traffic.
The police said investigations into the suspects are ongoing and assured motorists of increased patrols and tactical operations to curb the menace and restore confidence along the route.
