The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested six suspected kidnappers and uncovered a suspected criminal hideout in Ikara Local Government Area.
Police spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, disclosed this in a statement issued in Kaduna on Thursday.
According to Hassan, the arrests followed information from a kidnap victim who escaped from captivity, alongside intelligence supplied by residents.
The victim had reported his abduction to the police on Tuesday and directed officers to a house in Dogon Pako Village, Ikara, where he allegedly had been held.
Acting on the information, police officers from the Ikara Division joined forces with local vigilantes to storm the suspected hideout.
The operation resulted in the arrest of six suspects, whose ages range from 20 to 65.
Police said all six suspects remained in custody as investigators worked to determine their alleged roles and connections within the suspected kidnapping network.
Hassan added that the command had intensified efforts to track down other members of the group who remained at large.
He quoted the state Commissioner of Police, CP Muhammad Rabiu, as praising the officers and residents whose timely intervention contributed to the operation.
Rabiu urged communities across Kaduna State to remain alert and report unusual movements, suspicious individuals and other activities that could threaten public safety.
The commissioner also cautioned residents against overlooking the possibility that ordinary-looking residential buildings could be used by criminals to conceal victims or operate as temporary detention centres.
He stressed that stronger cooperation between security agencies and communities would be crucial to disrupting kidnapping networks and preventing further attacks across the state.
