The Police Command in Kogi on Friday in Lokoja, confirmed the murder of a farmer, Mr Durowaye Folusho, a resident of Ayetoro Kiri in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area.
The Command’s spokesperson, Williams Ovye-Aya, a Superintendent of Police, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), that the incident was reported on Thursday, Aug. 7.
“The incident was reported on Thursday that one Mr Durowaiye Folorunsho was allegedly attacked and killed in his farm by unknown assailants.
“The Commissioner of Police, Miller Dantawaye, has ordered a discreet investigation into the killing, with a view to bringing the perpetrators to book, ” he said.
He said the command was working diligently to ensure that justice was served and that the perpetrators apprehended to face the full weight of the law.
Meanwhile, the Kogi government has condemned the senseless killing of Mr Durowaye Folusho.
This is contained in a statement issued in Lokoja by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo.
Fanwo extended government’s heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased, the people of Ayetoro Kiri, and the entire Kabba/Bunu LGA.
He said that Gov. Ahmed Ododo had directed all relevant security agencies to immediately intensify efforts to apprehend those responsible for the heinous act.
“The governor has also mandated a thorough and expedited investigation to ensure justice is served.
“The State Security Adviser has also been instructed to beef up security around Ayetoro Kiri and neighboring areas to protect residents and prevent any recurrence of such incidents,” Fanwo said.
He assured the people that the safety and security of all citizens remained a priority under Ododo’s administration.
He urged the people to cooperate fully with security operatives by providing information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators.
“The government remains steadfast in its commitment to maintaining peace, security, and the rule of law across the state.
“We urge the public to provide credible intelligence that is required to prevent isolated occurrences such as the one that happened this morning,” Fanwo said. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
