Shock and confusion unfolded outside Iman Shumpert’s Atlanta home when police arrived before dawn on Nov. 26 after a call reported a heated dispute between the former Knicks and Nets guard and a woman, according to a police report.

The woman, identified as Joanna Donnejour, told officers that Shumpert had hit her, though a witness at the scene disputed that claim.

Police reached the home around 4:37 a.m. and saw Shumpert placing a suitcase outside. The argument reportedly began in his room during a dispute involving Donnejour, Shumpert and another woman.

Donnejour told officers and appeared to say on body camera footage that Shumpert dragged her by her wrist and foot toward the stairs while trying to remove her from the room.

“Is that lawful? To be dragged by your hands and your feet?” a woman believed to be Donnejour asked in the footage published by TMZ. She also said she wanted to press charges, insisting Shumpert had hit her.

Another woman at the scene told police Shumpert had asked Donnejour twice to leave and grabbed her wrist only to escort her out, saying it was not done aggressively. Officers noted that Donnejour showed no visible injuries and no charges were filed because of conflicting statements and insufficient evidence.

In a statement to TMZ, Shumpert said he repeatedly asked “a visitor at my residence” to leave after witnessing her damage property. He said officers reviewed accounts from multiple witnesses before instructing her to go. According to Shumpert, she refused until she was escorted outside.

He added that the matter was closed that night after police completed their investigation. Donnejour ordered a ride share and was heard saying she would “see him in court” and on social media as she left, according to body camera audio.
