The source reports that a video in circulation claims that over 488 suspected terrorists linked to the Boko Haram group were apprehended by security operatives in Abia State.
Expectedly, the reports have heightened tension and generated fears among not a few in the State.
But in a statement on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, Maureen Chilaka, a DSP , while dismissing the claim as false and misleading, explained that the said video has been in circulation in the past eleven years.
According to her, the said video is an old material which has no bearing to the present security situation in Abia State.
This is as she insisted that there was no such interception of terrorist elements, noting that security agencies in the state remain alert and on top of the security situation.
The Police Command spokesperson while suing for calm, urged the people to go about their normal activities , assuring adequate protection of lives and properties by security agencies across the street.
The police warned individuals and groups against sharing and disseminating unverified information, with the intent to create unnecessary tension and panic among the public.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, warns against the dissemination of false information intended to cause fear or civil unrest.
“Any individual found culpable will be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with Section 59 of the Criminal Code Act ,and the Cybercrime ( Prohibition/Prevention) Act”, the police warned
