A Police Inspector,Maxwell Zabu who is said to be a security detail to Victor Ihunwo, former Chairman of Port Harcourt Local Government Area of Rivers state early hours of Tuesday,April 22nd shot himself dead at Eagle Island residence of the ex-PHALGA Chairman in Port Harcourt.
The details of the incident is still sketchy as at press time.
We gathered that the incident was reported at the Police post at Eagleisland which is under Azikiwe Police Division,at Illabouchi,Mile 2 Diobu,PortHarcourt.
We further learnt that detectives from the Azikiwe Police Division had visited the scene as part of preliminary investigation procedures.
Spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command,Grace Iringe Koko who is also Superintendent of Police,SP told our reporter that it is suspected that the Police officer killed himself but investigation is ongoing to ascertain what actually transpired.
As at press time,we gathered that the Commissioner of Police in Rivers State,CP Olugbenga Adepoju has directed that the case be transferred to State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department,SCIID PortHarcourt for detailed investigation.
