Police Launch An Investigation After 30-year-old Man Allegedly Kills Himself In Abuja

The police in the Federal Capital Territory on Saturday announced that if have launched an investigation into an alleged suicide case in Abuja.

The police opened the investigation after a 30-year-old man simply identified as Ik Ojo was said to have killed himself in the Kagini–Dei-Dei area of FCT.

It was gathered that neighbours in the early hours of Friday found the man’s body in his apartment.

A video which circulated online showed the neighbours questioning the circumstances surrounding the death of Ojo.

In a statement signed by Josephine Adeb, the spokesperson for the command, the police said it received a distress call on August 5, 2025, about the incident.

Adeh said operatives from the Dei-Dei Division were deployed and they swiftly moved the victim to Kubwa General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead.

“Responding promptly, police operatives from Dei-Dei Division visited the scene and evacuated the victim to Kubwa General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor. The body has since been deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy,” Adeh said.

She also assured that the command will do everything possible to ensure that it gets to the root of the matter.

“The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, has ordered a thorough and discreet investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident. Further details will be communicated as the investigation progresses,” Adeh added.
