The Force Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Police Force, Benjamin Hundeyin, is set to vacate his position in Abuja on Friday, March 6, 2026, bringing to an end a five-month tenure.
Sources at the police headquarters disclosed to Vanguard that a senior police officer has already been pencilled down to replace Hundeyin, although the identity of the officer had not been officially announced as of press time.
According to sources familiar with the development, Hundeyin had been informed about the decision and had begun preparations to hand over the role.
As of about 8 p.m. on Thursday, the spokesperson was still performing his official duties.
An official announcement from the office of the Tunji Disu is expected on Friday.
Hundeyin was appointed Force Public Relations Officer in September 2025 while serving as a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP).
He succeeded Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who had been promoted to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).
Before his appointment at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, Hundeyin served as the Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, where he gained national attention for his proactive media engagement.
Security analysts say Hundeyin’s tenure as police spokesman was marked by increased engagement with the public through digital platforms.
His active presence on social media and regular updates on police activities were credited with improving the Force’s communication with citizens and enhancing transparency.
Hundeyin holds a Bachelor’s degree in English from Lagos State University and a Master’s degree in Legal Criminology and Security Psychology from University of Ibadan.
