Regina Daniels isn’t the only actress delving into politics as a politician’s wife; her senior colleague, Mercy Johnson, is giving her a run for her position.
The movie star, whose husband, Prince Odi Okojie, is a politician in Edo State, had accompanied the wife of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, Hajiya Fatima Abass, to Plateau State.
Sharing photos from her visit, Mercy expressed how thrilled she was to accompany Johnson to celebrate Nzem Berom 2025, a cultural celebration in Plateau State. Johnson expressed gratitude to the State for their respect and love.
“I was extremely thrilled to accompany my boss, Hajiya Fatima Abbas Tajudeen, the wife of the speaker of the House of Representatives, on this historic celebration of the Nzem Berom 2025 cultural celebration in Plateau State. Since her husband’s entrance into politics, Mercy has shied from showing off her political side.
Last year, Mercy Johnson Okojie earned massive backlash for campaigning for Edo State gubernatorial candidate Senator Monday Okpebholo. The movie star was seen at a political rally in Ward 6 Irruekpen, Esan West LGA, campaigning for Senator Okpebholo, as she encouraged women to talk to their husbands and children about voting for the candidate.
Similarly, in 2023, she also came under heavy fire after she publicly endorsed Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu for a second term. Johnson shared a scorecard of the Governor, praising him for his performance in Lagos State.
Recall that during the 2023 House of Representatives election, Mercy stood solidly behind her husband as she rigorously campaigned for him. When he eventually won, the mother of four shared a video of herself and her husband dancing heartily.
Following his victory, Prince Odi praised her for being the true definition of a supportive wife, which led to his political success.
