Afrobeats star Gabriel Oche Amanyi, popularly known as Terry G, has spoken on why many Nigerians struggle to succeed.

Naijaonpoint reports that in a post on his Instagram story, the singer said a poor upbringing from parents is one of the main reasons many people remain trapped in failure.

He explained that negative words spoken to children while growing up often stay with them into adulthood, leaving them with low self-esteem and a mindset of limitation.

According to him, when people say they cannot achieve certain things, it is usually a reflection of the words they repeatedly heard from their parents.

He added that this cycle of negativity continues to affect many adults, keeping them from reaching their full potential.

Terry G urged Nigerians to break free from such upbringing by changing their mindset and focusing on positivity, noting that doing so can open the door to progress and success.

He wrote: “Our Nigerian parents really do many of us strong thing. The point I’m making is this :when you come under my post saying you’ll never make it that’s not really you speaking,it’s the voice of what you grew up hearing at home. When you say, ‘you can’t do this, you can’t do that,’ you’re only repeating what your father and mother told u growing up.

“Now you see you’ve carried that same energy into adulthood, and that’s why many are stuck in failure. It’s time to break that cycle. It’s time to change that mindset.”
