A famous Nigerian Christian cleric, Reverend Uma Ukpai, has reportedly died at the age of 80.
However, the family of the popular televangelist has yet to issue a statement on the development.
The news of his demise was first announced by Prophet Joel Ogebe through a cryptic message on his X (formerly Twitter) handle.
“A giant has gone to be with the Lord. My father, my father, the chariot of Israel. Heaven rejoices. Uyo,” he wrote.
Not long after his message, it was reported that the founder of Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, which is based in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, was dead.
“A general takes a bow! Evangelist Uma Ukpai has gone to be with the Lord. Rest in power, sir,” a foremost Christian platform, Church Gist, posted.
The deceased is among the league of powerful men of God in Nigeria comprising Pastor Enoch Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Kumuyi of Deeper Life Bible Church, Bishop Mike Okonkwo of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM), Bishop David Oyedepo of the Living Faith Church (Winners’ Chapel), among others.
