Cristiano Ronaldo and his partner Georgina Rodriguez have purchased a plot of land on the exclusive Jumeirah Island in Dubai for €25 million (£21m/$27m), Soccernet.football reports.

The seahorse-shaped island, located just off the coast of Dubai, is known for its luxury and exclusivity. It is managed by one of the largest luxury real estate groups in the United Arab Emirates and is close to the iconic Palm Islands.

Ronaldo, who currently plays for Saudi Pro League team Al-Nassr, appears to be making long-term plans for a base in the Middle East.

Globo reports suggest that Ronaldo and Rodriguez plan to build a luxury mansion on this newly acquired land. The construction is expected to be completed by the end of December. The island already features 15 luxury homes, exclusive beaches, entertainment clubs, a hotel, a yacht club, and a diving centre.

Ronaldo has the most lucrative contract in world football and recently topped Forbes’ list of highest-earning sports stars. This wealth allows him to expand his impressive property portfolio, which includes homes in Madrid, Marbella, Madeira, New York, Lisbon, and Turin.

The former Manchester United and Real Madrid star is presently on Euro 2024 duty with Portugal.

The 39-year-old forward has one assist in two games for Portugal, who have already secured a spot in the knockout stages with victories over the Czech Republic and Turkey.

On Wednesday night in Gelsenkirchen, they will face Georgia, who need an unlikely win to progress.

Portugal, having secured the top spot in Group F, will be looking to continue their strong form as they head into the knockout rounds.
