‘Positive outcome’ regarding Leeds-linked Brazilian branded a myth

Leeds United’s reported interest in a move for Atletico Mineiro’s Guilherme Arana has prompted a strong response from a section of the Brazilian media.

Arana had a massively positive season with Atletico Mineiro. The full-back contributed to five goals in 26 league games over the course of the season.

What’s more, he was a crucial member of Mineiro’s league and cup-winning sides. Indeed, he scored in the first leg of the Copa Do Brasil semi-final.

Indeed, the Brazilian’s top form has led to interest from Premier League sides. Wolves’ interest in the full-back was reported in October.

Furthermore, Leeds recently emerged as a potential suitor. A report stated Leeds had made an approach, and a ‘positive outcome’ would come of it.

However, a recent report from Canal Galotube (via Sport Witness) claims that those rumours were false. Journalist Ricardo Alencar was quoted in the article.

“There is absolutely nothing [to the rumours],” he said.

It is unclear whether Leeds are in fact interested in Arana. However, the report states the rumours should be ingored.

Indeed, a player of Arana’s quality could indeed be a good signing for Leeds. The Whites’ injury crisis presents Marcelo Bielsa with a number of selection issues.

However, it seems Leeds are probably looking elsewhere for a fix to those problems. Or at least they are not actively pursuing Arana as yet.

Arana rumours false, but Leeds plotting transfers

Despite there being no sign of truth in the rumours for Arana, Leeds are apparently tracking another signing.

The Whites are reportedly looking to bring former player Ronaldo Vieira back to the cub.

Vieira was a quality player during his time at Leeds. Indeed, that quality lead to him being snapped up by Sampdoria.

However, since playing in Italy, Vieira’s career has stagnated. As such, it seems Leeds may be able to bring him back to West Yorkshire for a lower price than they sold him for.

What’s more, the singing of Vieira would help with squad depth, amid an abundance of injuries within the side.

Jose Mourinho and Roma are keen to engineer a deal for an integral Wolves star, according to reports in Italy.

Wolves sit eighth in the Premier League after 20 matches, having won nine of them. They have the second best defensive record in the division, having seen just 15 goals go against them so far this term.

Bruno Lage is gaining admirers for making Wanderers a troublesome side to play against. The manager will be hoping they can continue their decent form and complete a top ten finish.

Several players are impressing at Molineux, including goalkeeper Jose Sa. The 29-year-0ld came in to replace Rui Patricio in the summer and has since kept eight clean sheets.

Young full-back Rayan Ait-Nouri is also putting in some exciting displays on the left flank. He picked up a groin injury during December but marked his return against Southampton with two assists in a 3-1 victory for Wolves.

One star who is understated but helps Lage massively is central midfielder Joao Moutinho. The Portugal international, now 35, has featured in every league game this season.

He got a rare headline earlier this month by scoring the winner against Manchester United at Old Trafford. His half volley eight minutes from time gave Wolves their first victory at the ground since 1980.

Jose Mourinho wants veteran to join Roma

The latest rumours claim Moutinho’s displays have not gone unnoticed. Football Italia, who cite Corriere dello Sport, state the veteran is of interest to Mourinho and Roma.

The former Chelsea, United and Tottenham boss is searching for midfield reinforcements. He is using the Prem as a hunting ground given his solid links with the division.

Mourinho wants the Wolves man to move to Rome, and he could be helped by super agent Jorge Mendes. He represents both men, suggesting a deal could be put into motion.

The Serie A outfit will first need to sell Amadou Diawara. The 24-year-old, currently representing Guinea at the Africa Cup of Nations, is rejecting advances from Valencia.

Moutinho has made 160 appearances for Wolves at the time of writing, following a £5m switch from Monaco in July 2018. He has helped the west Midlands club to fight for top ten finishes since then, although they were unable to do so last season.

Wolves star wanted by United

Meanwhile, Ralf Rangnick has reportedly told United to monitor the progress of Wolves defender Max Kilman.

According to 90Min, the German gave an in-depth assessment of his squad to the likes of Director of Football John Murtough and new Chief Executive Richard Arnold.

And Wolves’ English defender Kilman, 24, was one player Rangnick urged the club to look closely at.

Last term, he made 18 Premier League appearances. But this campaign has been his true breakthrough season as he has played every minute under Lage.

Liverpool gifted golden chance to make Klopp smile with crazy striker steal

nantes striker randal kolo muani

Nantes are imploring Liverpool to make a bid for one of their strikers after calling foul on his proposed move to Eintracht Frankfurt, per a report.

Nantes striker Randal Kolo Muani has has attracted attention this season through his vibrant displays in Ligue 1. The Frenchman, 23, has bagged seven goals and three assists in the current campaign, and has regularly been linked with Liverpool over the past month.

The links to Liverpool stemmed mainly from the German media when detailing Frankfurt’s pursuit of Muani.

Per Sport Witness (citing German newspaper Bild), the Bundesliga side have been courting the marksman since the beginning of the season.

With just six months left on his current deal, he is now free to sign a pre-contract agreement with overseas clubs. That is the opening Frankfurt were waiting for, and the article (also citing Kicker) states Muani has ‘basically decided’ to move to Germany.

A medical is reportedly on the horizon for next week. However, Nantes are determined to avoid losing their frontman for nothing.

Muani move threatens to turn ugly

Per Sport Witness, Nantes are ‘threatening’ legal action against Frankfurt after believing the German side made ‘unauthorised contact’ with their player.

Frankfurt reportedly deny that claim, but it has opened the door for rival suitors to pounce.

Liverpool, along with AC Milan and Freiburg are all listed as Muani’s admirers. Nantes are ‘hoping’ one of that trio will make a January offer that would ensure they don’t lose their striker for nothing next summer. And given their weak bargaining position, the inference is they would not hold out for a huge fee.

Muani was named on Klopp’s list of attacking targets by Bild earlier this month. The Reds have drawn persistent links with a number of forwards since the window opened given Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane are away at AFCON.

Whether Liverpool will act on Nantes’ plea, only time will tell. But per the reports, a deal certainly appears there for the making if they so desire.

Forward talks begin with Klopp unconvinced by Liverpool pair

Meanwhile, Liverpool have reportedly entered discussions over the signing of Luis Diaz, as Jurgen Klopp doesn’t trust two of his attacking options.

Reports suggest Klopp’s team could go big to bring Colombian forward Diaz in before the transfer window closes on January 31. The Porto forward, 25, has been in great form in Portugal this campaign. He is second in the Primeira Liga scoring charts, having hit 13 goals in 17 outings so far. Only Benfica ace Darwin Nunez has more.

According to Caught Offside, who cite Spanish outlet El Nacional, Liverpool are in talks with Porto over Diaz’s potential move to Anfield.

The Merseyside club have the funds to secure his services and are reportedly doing ‘all they can’ to make this happen. Spanish giants Barcelona are known admirers, but Liverpool are in pole position to complete a deal.

The update comes amid Klopp’s apparent ‘lack of trust’ towards two players. The report states he cannot rely on Takumi Minamino or Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to fill the boots of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane – both of whom are away at ACFON. That is despite the two stars getting on the scoresheet in Sunday’s victory over Brentford at Anfield.

Clearly, Minamino and Oxlade-Chamberlain are not on their team-mates’ level. However, they can still prove to be useful over the next few weeks and the article would appear speculatory at best.
